Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Over 55 days since the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee has publicly raised a series of "five critical questions" directed at the Government of India, demanding transparency and accountability. Expressing deep concern over what he perceives as a lack of public discourse from mainstream media, opposition, and judiciary on the matter, Banerjee, as a committed citizen and public representative, highlighted crucial aspects ranging from border security to global diplomacy.
Banerjee questioned the security breach that allowed four terrorists to infiltrate and kill 26 innocent civilians, demanding accountability for this "massive breach in national security." He also scrutinized the extension granted to the Intelligence Bureau Chief barely a month after the attack, asking why he was "rewarded rather than held accountable" if it was an intelligence failure. Furthermore, he challenged the government's perceived inaction against terrorist networks given its alleged use of Pegasus spyware against political figures. The Trinamool MP also sought clarity on the status of the four terrorists responsible for the "brutal, religion-based massacre," asking if they are dead or alive and demanding a clear statement from the government.
Beyond the immediate attack, Banerjee pressed the government on its strategy for reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK) and demanded an official response to the US President's claim of mediating a ceasefire with trade promises, questioning if "the emotions of 140 crore Indians" were disregarded. Lastly, he raised concerns about India's global diplomacy, seeking details on international support post-Pahalgam. He critically noted the financial assistance provided by the IMF and World Bank to Pakistan immediately after the attack, and Pakistan's subsequent appointment as Vice-Chair of the UN Security Council's Counter-Terrorism Committee, asking why a nation repeatedly involved in cross-border terrorism was seemingly "rewarded." Banerjee concluded by asserting that the Indian public deserves "transparency, accountability and results—NOT SILENCE AND SPIN!"
